Benjamin Rowland
Benjamin Moore Rowland, 73, died peacefully March 1, following a courageous struggle with recurrent colorectal cancer. A graduate of the Pomfret School, Yale and the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, Ben’s career had a global span including service in the Peace Corps, 15 years on Wall Street, and leadership roles at both the Inter-American Development Bank and the World Bank. An avid watercolorist, he was also a political scholar, world traveler, writer and most of all loving family member and friend. He will be deeply missed by his wife Julia, daughter Katherine, son Ben, son-in-law Eddie McShane, siblings Hugh, Fred and Margaret and cherished grandson Finn. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, March 12 at 2pm, at the Georgetown Presbyterian Church in Washington, D.C. Gifts in his memory may be made to Smith Center for Healing and the Arts in D.C.
