Philip H. Debenham
Philip H. Debenham, of Sykesville, MD, passed away peacefully on February 2nd after a dignified battle with Parkinson’s disease. Philip was born on October 13, 1943 to Jack and Margaret (nee Biehl) Debenham in New London, CT. He graduated from Irondequoit HS in 1961, received his undergraduate degree in physics from Yale University in 1965, and his PhD from the University of Minnesota in 1971. While attending IHS, he met his future wife, Kathleen Parker; they were wed in 1965, and went on to have two children, Andrew and Jane. After a long career in particle physics, he retired from the Department of Energy in 2010. He spent his newly found freedom with his wife, family, and three grandchildren. Philip is predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife Kathleen; his sister, Susan (Leonard); his brother, Jim; his two children; and his three grandchildren, Hannahlore, Maximilian, and Vincent. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorial contributions to be made in Philip’s name to the Parkinson’s Foundation.Published in Carroll County Times on Feb. 5, 2021.
