Chad C. Osborne

Died November 12, 2009

An English major, Chad knew by the time of our graduation that he would be continuing his studies at Stanford, where he earned an M.A. in English education in 1966. That led him to teach 11th grade high school English, earn an Ed.D. from the University of Massachusetts in 1977, and join the faculty of Worcester State College, where he rose to chairman of the Education Department.

Chad prepared for Yale at Northwestern High School in Hyattsville, MD, held a University Gift Scholarship while at Yale and participated in Dwight Hall, Wesley Foundation and the Tutoring Program.

Chad’s 45th reunion questionnaire was returned with news that he had died on November 12, 2009 while teaching high school English at Panorama High School in Los Angeles, CA, following his retirement as a college English professor. While residing in Santa Barbara, Chad continued teaching through Unschooling, a distance learning workshop, concentrating on uses of the Internet for teaching, learning and professional development.

He was survived by his wife, Gail Eve Ohlin, two daughters, Amanda and Kristina, and two sons, Matthew and Joshua.
